Legal Developments

"The Congress declares that it is the policy of the United States
to promote an environment for all Americans free from
noise that jeopardizes their health or welfare."

NOISE CONTROL ACT of 1972

You may have heard that STOP the NOISE is engaged in a civil action against stunt pilots in Massachusetts. This is incorrect. The aviation press has been reporting this erroneously.

STOP the NOISE is not a party to any legal action at this time.

There have been cases in recent years that are of interest to those seeking to regain control of their communities from the aviation hegemony. Many of them have been very much about noise. We will report on some of them here.

Casey et al v. Goulian et al.
Five citizens defend their homes against the abuses of four aerobatic pilots. And it looks like they're winning.

Naples, FL v FAA
The city of Naples, FL fought to control its own destiny and won the right to ban certain noisy aircraft from its municipal airport.

If you know of a case we should be following, please tell us so we can put it here.  mail@STOPtheNOISE.org
